Artificial intelligence, or more commonly known as AI, has become a massive talking point in the last couple of years. More specifically, large generative AI models. These models can take any information you feed them and almost instantly generate whatever you want. They also generate a lot of power and require large data centers to be trained on and hosted in. The data centers negatively affect both the environment and the communities that they are located in and near.
As a big advocate of technology, I think that AI is so cool and can be so helpful if used ethically. In this project, I am training my own AI model on all my childhood photos, photos I’ve taken, and any photos taken of me. Unlike most generative AI models, this one is done ethically. Because I’m using my own photographs and computer, nothing is being stolen to train, and a whole lot less power is being used.
The goal is to create an AI model as an equivalent to my brain. Creating memories for myself that never did or could happen. Generating artwork that could have been created by myself. Because I’m using an AI model, I myself lose control over what happens.
